Lexington, SC (July 2, 2026) — The Southern Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Association (SCCFA) announced the successful conclusion of its 2026 Convention & Family Reunion, held June 14–16 at the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk in partnership with the Texas Cemeteries & Crematories Association (TCCA) and the South Carolina Cemetery Association (SCCA).

The convention brought together cemetery, cremation, funeral, and supplier professionals from across the region for three days of education, exhibits, networking, and industry connection. Well-attended sessions, a strong vendor presence, and an active exhibit hall reflected the continued strength of SCCFA and the value of bringing the profession together in person.

Attendees heard from a leading lineup of industry executives, operators, educators, and advocates, including Carlos R. Quezada, Chris Cruger, Ben R. Upton, Dan Ford, John Bolton, Sam James, and Wendy Wiener. Programming addressed key issues shaping the future of deathcare, including service excellence, consumer change, cemetery growth, workforce trends, advocacy, leadership, compliance, and the family experience.

Vendors, exhibitors, and sponsors also reported strong engagement throughout the event, connecting directly with operators, decision-makers, and professionals from across the cemetery, cremation, and funeral sectors.

“This year’s Convention & Family Reunion was an extraordinary success and a true reflection of what makes The Southern so special,” said Michael Higgs, President of SCCFA. “The attendance, education, exhibitor participation, and fellowship all exceeded expectations. More importantly, the convention personified our values: Southern hospitality, family, togetherness, and a genuine commitment to helping one another succeed. We have something very special in SCCFA, and San Antonio reminded us how strong this association and this profession can be when we come together.”

The San Antonio convention continued SCCFA’s tradition of pairing practical education with the hospitality and sense of community that have long defined the association. For many attendees, the event offered not only professional development, but also an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, build new relationships, and reaffirm the shared purpose of serving families and communities with dignity.

Building on that momentum, SCCFA also announced that its 2027 Convention & Family Reunion will take place in Franklin, Tennessee. Next year’s event will bring together six state associations: the Cemetery Association of Tennessee (CAT), Georgia Cemetery Association (GCA), Kentucky Cemetery Association (KCA), North Carolina Cemetery Association (NCCA), South Carolina Cemetery Association (SCCA), and West Virginia Cemetery & Funeral Association (WVCFA).

Additional details regarding the 2027 convention will be announced in the months ahead.
